Title: PLC - Touchscreen Software as a service
Post by: jmmrail on May 31, 2009, 09:06:40 PM
In today's market, most of us need to think of new ways to maintain / increase revenue.  I'd like to market PLC software as a downloadable via a web site, and would need to control its functionality via some sort of "unlock" code upon payment.  This in turn inplies that a given copy may only be installed on one specific PLC program module, so is there a method of determining a unique identifier (serial number?) for such modules?  We happen to be using the 250-1 module for most of our projects, if that makes any difference.  The same problem also applies to Touchscreen software (via C-More).

I don't plan to reinvent the wheel, but rather would prefer to use one of the existing shareware marketing sites (SWREG, for example).  In the longer term, it would be nice if whatever functionality gets developed along this line would include the ability to control program "stages" within the overall PLC program in a similar manner (thus allowing different program functions and features to be separately purchased and activated within the same package).

We currently use DirectSoft 5.3 and C-More 2.23, and would like to know if other developers have a similar interest!?
