I was attempting to update the firmware on an ebc100 through the net edit 3.14 with fresh firmware files. It got to the point where it was loading the new booter and failed. I missed the error code that came up, as net edit crashed shortly after(there is a mangled dump file which was unable to be sent back to host). Now the module shows no IP address and can not be found via the IP tool using the mac address. The error link blinks in a constant pattern of 2 blinks then a pause. What little I can find in various places indicates that means the booter is now corrupt. Any thoughts on what next? I am thinking this is now bricked.

I'm not the expert, but I think it can still be updated through the bootloader, which is what is blinking the codes. Lemme see if I can get a better answer.

If the EBC100 is blinking the pattern of 2 blinks and then pause, that just means the module is stuck in the booter, not that the booter is corrupt. You most likely have not bricked it. Also, if it shows no IP address, yet you can still see it in NetEdit3, then you need only attempt to update the firmware again. Your IP address is probably still in there, it's just that the booter can't get to the firmware yet (because that failed for some reason). A good idea is to also make sure nothing else is trying to talk to the EBC100 while it is updating the firmware (e.g. if it is an ERM, then unplug the ERM; if it is an HMI, unplug it, etc.).

My apologies on the very late reply.
Following your suggestions, I kept retrying and finally got the IP tool to reset the IP to one that netedit could find. I was able to get netedit to find it and reload both the booter and the firmware. It successfully updated and all was good. I powered down and rehooked all my modules back up and it ran happily for a day or so before I shut it down for the weekend. The following monday, it didn't recognize it's IP address and again netedit couldn't find it. I tried for the next day or so have nededit find it, with no luck. At that point, I had to set it aside and move on to other modules. I powered it up yesterday, and it was blinking a double pattern and not being found on netedit again. I am assuming there is something hardware (or electrical) wrong, as this is the only one of the 5 of these that I am having a problem with. I plan to keep working on this one in my spare time to see if I can sort something out. I will try better to keep you all posted with any updates or developments.

I am assuming there is something hardware (or electrical) wrong, as this is the only one of the 5 of these that I am having a problem with. I would advise you to RMA it back to Automation Direct, especially if it is in warranty, before the warranty runs out. Or ship it back to us. We'd like to see it. Sounds like a power-up issue. If you'd like to work something like that out, send me an email: support@hosteng.com.
