Title: DL260 ECOM100 Initiate communication with BRX
Post by: JeffS on July 29, 2021, 02:28:35 PM
Is it possible to have a RX/WX in a DL260 via ECOM100 that pull/pushes data from a BRX with the appropriate DLV memory configured?   I have been attempting to make this happen, but even with the Node Number configured it always fails.

Hi JeffS. I apologize for not seeing this sooner!

This will only work if you have a peer-to-peer table configured in the H2-ECOM100.

The reason is when you use the "Node Number," the H2-ECOM100 has to send out a broadcast and ask, "Hey! Who has Node #x?" and the BRX does not recognize that broadcast. Other H2-ECOM100s will recognize it, but not the BRX Ethernet port. So, you have to put a peer-to-peer table in you H2-ECOM100 that translates the RX/WX's "Node Number" to an actual IP address; the IP address of your BRX. If you do this then the H2-ECOM100 doesn't have to query for the IP address. Instead, the peer-to-peer table gives it to him and he just sends the UDP/IP telegram to the BRX, which he will immediately recognize and give you access to the DL-memory.

The last few slides of this PowerPoint tech training shows how this is the one case that doesn't work.

It is summarized in the attached pic...
