I am considering upgrading to LookoutDirect 5 from L.O.D. 4.5.1 (build 19) but would like to know if L.O.D. 5 has the same 500 I/O limitation that 4.5.1 has?
Thank you in advance.

Technically, there is no such thing as Lookout DIRECT v5. The latest Lookout DIRECT is v4.5.1 Build 19. There is, however, a National Instruments Lookout v5.0, but this is not Lookout DIRECT. Lookout Direct means it is a version of Lookout that has the DL (DirectLogic) drivers built into it already so that it can talk to the AutomationDirect (i.e. Koyo) PLCs.
If one happened to purchase NI's Lookout (not LookoutDirect), then it inherently does not have the DL drivers in it. However, in that case one could also purchase the DL-PLUS software package which, when installed, would add the DL drivers to NI's Lookout. However, the potential problem here is that we designed the DL-PLUS driver package to work with NI Lookout versions up to version 4, and we have not tested it with anything greater (like NI Lookout5). DL-PLUS driver package, should, however, work fine with NI Lookout5... but no guarantees.
Nevertheless, to answer your question, I'm pretty sure that NI's Lookout5 has the same 500 I/O limitation as NI's Lookout4 (or LookoutDirect4).
Sorry for such a convoluted answer, but those are the facts. :)
