Is there anyway to export links setup in older versions of DmD to import to the latest version of DmD?
-
I'm not sure what you are asking. Can you clarify?
-
Apologize for not being more descriptive.
When an IP is setup and saved in the links it does not transfer to the new DmD version when upgraded. Is there a reason for that? Do I have to pull these links from a DmD file of the older version?

Are you saying the links are being transferred? They should be.

I'm still not sure what you are saying. However, the links should be transferred from the older version of Do-more Designer to the newer one. If not, you can find your links in the DmdComm.RST file. You can manually copy those over. The file is located in, for example:
c:\Users\Public\Documents\Do-more\Designer2_7\Bin
So, you can copy that DmdComm.RST file from there to say, for example:
c:\Users\Public\Documents\Do-more\Designer2_8\Bin

Thanks Greg. My links weren't being transferred.

What I'd like is toolbar config import/export. Now that it survives version upgrades, I have been customizing, but I'd like to be able to port the configuration to a new machine if I install DmD.

Is there a way to open a saved project without trying to connect to the link? I have my timeouts set pretty high for VPN connections, and sometimes I want to open a project to quickly check something, and it takes an eternity to open, try to connect, and then timeout, and allow me to open without connecting to link. I'd like to be able to speed that up.

Currently no, but that's a good idea.

I suppose the same applies for just trying to open DmD without being connected to any VPN, it goes through each link "Sensing link", times out, tries the next one, etc... Takes a few minutes just to do anything.

You can turn that off.

I've done some poking around with no luck, where do I turn that off?

In the INI file.

In the INI file.
That's so old school. ;)
In the Select PLC Connection dialog (New Online, et al.), there is a checkbox to turn it off.

Hey, I'm old! Whatever way I learned to do something 28 years ago is probably stuck there forever! ;D

You probably program using the keyboard, not a mouse or touch pad.

Prolly 80/20 keyboard. And I love all the keyboard shortcuts. Those are pretty well burned in too.
