Can you program plc dl06 through port 2? I am doing this to determine the status of port 2
-
Yes you can program through port 2 (if it's set to one of the protocols DirectSOFT can work with). I have had a problem with poor performance programming through port 2 if an MMI is connected to port 1 at the same time, but never the other way around.
You say you want to determine the status of port 2. You don't have to connect to port 2 to see its configuration if that's what you mean. While connected to port 1, select PLC --> Setup --> Setup Sec. Comm Port... and you can inspect and edit the configuration as far as protocols supported, baud rate, parity, turnaround delay, and so on.

Can I use the link wizard to establish programming through port 2?
The issue is i am trying to test ASCII strings with Microsoft HyperTerminal.
Automation direct document AN-MISC-020. I did not have any luck.
The setup is exact from my end. Cable used is D2-DSCBL-1
so to eliminate problems I am trying to program through port 2 using the same cable. This will tell me if the port2 have any problem. The cable is brand new.
thank you for all your help ???

Port 2 cannot be used as an ASCII (aka Non-Sequence) protocol and a programming port at the same time. Are you trying to test ASCII strings through Port 2 AND use DirectSOFT through Port 2?
-
I apologize for not making my self clear.
They are not done at the same time.
Typically I will try sending ASCII off port 2, and program the PLC through port 1
This is a temporary set up to test connectivity of port 2.

Port 2 of the PLC was bad I changed the PLC and every thing worked fine. :)
