Title: Sorting "Select Link..." box?

Hi,

Is there a way to keep the "Select Link..." box sorted alphabetically?

I have about 16 links, with 30 more to come, it would sure be nice.

Currently, no.  But we are addressing connections (links) for the next release.

Maybe the ability to create folders in the link list would help with this as well, for people that keep a lot of links defined.

We are in the middle of a major rework of how comm connections are created, managed, and selected. Probably won't do folders for really boring reasons, but we will likely provide filters.

Sorry to dig this up again, but has the comm engine update taken place?

I'd still love to be able to sort my links.

Yes and no. I don't think the launch window has yet gotten the sort option, but the Connect dialog has. We expect this all to be released in late March. We were going to roll it out as a software only release, but it got later and later and it didn't make sense, since we have new module releasing in March. Here's what's coming...

Looks nice. Is this going to also take the place of NetEdit as well?

Not entirely, but for setting an IP address yes. Pick your new PLC from the list, we'll scan your NICs and ARP table and recommend a valid IP address. Then after setting it in the device, we prompt for a link name and create a link to it.

That looks awesome! More than I ever dreamed of...a simple alphabetical name sort would have fulfilled my wish.

Not sure if you looked at the sort capabilities, but you can short by any column, increasing or decreasing, and do multi-column sorts.

The columns are:
Name, PLC Type, PC Port, PLC Address, Enabled/Disabled, PLC Serial #, Other/Description

 (e.g. first by PC Port then by PLC Address, or first by PLC Type then by Name, or ? ? ?)
