Hi all,
This is more a networking questions possibly but I was hoping to get some advise as I am not a network guru.
Currently we have 5 ethernet devices. 3 do-more PLC's and 2 c-more HMI units. All connected to a unmanaged switch in the panel.
We communicate with our customers WMS via TCP from one of those PLC's. Usually we just have the customer supply us with the required IP addresses and have them all on their network for remote support.
We now have a few customers that insist we only have 1 IP for TCP communications and the machine network be separated. I simply added an ECOM100 card to connect the PLC to the machine network and now have the Do-More port being used for TCP Communications. But now I have lost remote ability.
My question is what are my options? Does a managed switch allow for what I want? Or do I need some type of Router that could somehow be configured to allow the TCP communications & remote support through them?

What you most likely want is a VPN device. Automationdirect now sells them. https://www.automationdirect.com/adc/Shopping/Catalog/Communications/Secure_Remote_Access_-_VPN
