Title: Domore networked to Productivity PLC
Post by: hex1 on October 24, 2017, 11:58:54 PM
HI,
what is the best way to communicate(network) multiple Do-more PLC's to a Productivity PLC?

You have a choice of Modbus TCP or Ethernet I/P.  Myself, I'd choose Modbus.  It's easier for me to make work.

Thanks for the response.
I am on a project that (might) require more than 32 DO-more H2DM1E controllers.
All need to be networked together( Smart Building/LAB) with POINT OF VIEW SCADA  so I am looking a control philosophy.
I was thinking, network all the DOMORES and let the productivity “read ”their data and send it to the POINT OF VIEW SCADA SOFTWARE.
What might be my best option?

It's all a matter of preference.  Myself, I'd keep it all Do-more and use a single PLC as a concentrator.  But then that is just the way I would do it.

That would be my preference as well.

So what would a Productivity PLC bring to the table over a Do-more? To my way of thinking two different PLC architectures with total different programming software is not a great solution not to mention that you now require two PLCs if spares are required. Yeah I’d buy a soare right up front too.

Thanks all for the replies.
I will use all DO-More and keep it simple.

Thanks
