Title: Internal Serial Problem
Post by: Bobby on April 05, 2017, 12:55:25 PM
Hoping someone can give me a hint as to why I cannot get a serial hand scanner to work with the on-board serial port.

I have the port configured for "Program Control" and also have all the various com setting correct. When I trigger the scanner I see nothing in the IntSerial.InQueue and also no RX light blink.

If I stick a SERIO card in and use the same setting it works just fine  ???

Am I missing something?

Thanks!

I believe the serial port has to be set to "General Purpose".

I'd guess either a busted port, or a hardware handshaking/cable issue.

Same thing. Renamed for 2.0.

Okay I figured it out kinda. I swapped the adapter I am using to go from a 9 pin serial to a rj-11 and it now works for both the on-board and serio cards. No clue why it would only work with the serio card on the other one  ::)

There are differences. I chased this down myself once. See:

Post 1 has the pinouts all together. I don't know which adapter you were using, but glad you got it.
