Title: CTRIO upload with Password
Post by: TF_PLC on June 22, 2015, 02:18:02 PM
I have to deploy a software update to our customer base. It involves updating the the PLC (DL205/260) and CTRIO modules.
Our PLC's in the field are password protected. We tried to use CTRIO workbench  (stand alone no DirectSoft installed) but get a "Shared RAM error".
DN loader works great with the PLC, is it possible to update the CTRIO modules without DirectSoft being installed?
Thanks

I'm kinda surprised that the shared ram functions are affected by the password, but admittedly have never tried. CtrioWB does not have any provision to unlock the PLC, so yeah, I guess DirectSoft would be required.

Not relevant to your situation, but for reference, we added the CTRIO/2 config to Do-more's project specifically to eliminate the dependence on CtrioWB. Do-more also has a downloader like DNLoader.

Thanks BobO,
Can I distribute 'DirectSoft 6' Demo version so my field reps can unlock the PLC to update the CTRIO's?
I don't want to violate the software license. Is there any other options?

Absolutely.
