Title: MATH instruction has lost it's mind?
Post by: ERokc on March 01, 2015, 04:58:05 PM
I have spent hours looking for a cause of incorrect math calculation and can't find it.  I then loaded two prior versions of my ladder logic that I know worked and they too now have the same problem. :(

I think I need to send my Do-more program with results of the MATH instruction for someone look at.
I guess I need an email address to send to.  What details do you need, Domore version, PLC firmware version, etc.?

I'm puzzled. It will be interesting to see the cause.

Send it to support@hosteng.com. PLC firmware version and DMD version will be enough.

ERokc, I sent you a response via email.

For the record, ERokc sent me an email and said he had proven to himself that the MATH was actually broken by using the Debug mode. But when he ran just that bit of code in a previously-cleared PLC, it worked. And then after that he could not duplicate it. So we're not exactly sure what occurred but the hypothesis is that when it was not working there was something in retentive memory that was causing this behavior. No way to know what that was at this point.

So, if you do get some kind of bizarre behavior like this, use the Debug mode in Do-more Designer to prove it to yourself. But please fully document it if you have time so we can try to duplicate (and thus, fix) the issue.

Another thing that would be useful is while it is behaving this way, create a DMLoader file: File --> Export --> Generate DMLoader image...

BobO can give the details of just exactly what would be useful to include in the DMLoader image and why. :)
