Title: Fieldbus's
Post by: jwbaker3 on August 29, 2014, 12:59:17 PM
Are there any plans to add Profibus/Profinet to the Do-More? Some of my customers are using Siemens and GEIP (smart MCC's, drives, remote I/O etc.)hardware, that use profibus. I know I can get a convertor but the cost is quite high and makes it harder to sell changing PLC hardware (from Siemens or GEIP to Do-More) to the customer. Modbus is still the 900 pound gorilla but Profibus/Profinet, Ethercat, Ehternet IP and other are gaining market share. Also any word on when we may see the baby Do-More?

Thanks,
JW

We may dig into some competitive Ethernet based protocols after the completion of the Ethernet IP adapter. Priorities TBD, but will be based on potential market size.

The new platform is coming nicely. No dates to offer, but we'd love to see it get to market by late next year. Like all large projects, that could vary wildly and you should plan on using it only when you see it available for purchase.
