Title: USB Connection
Post by: ATU on August 07, 2014, 02:59:01 PM
Have not connected with my DoMore CPU in a while. Downloaded the latest version 1.2.1 and did a uninstall and the new install. Can't connect with the USB.  It sees it in the link editor and I can read the serial number but it won't connect. When I do Auto in the link editor I get "Attempted access of Unlocked Device". I was able to use NetEdit and connect that way. I updated the booter thinking that was the problem, but nope, still won't work on the USB. I have an ASUS Windows7 - 64and tried all USB ports. This worked on previous versions. When I look in Device Mgr, the list does do a refresh when I plug it in but nothing shows up in any of the places where I thought it would be. Any ideas?

Current DMD is 1.3.1.something.  Is there the possibility the PLC is newer than the DMD, or was the 1.2.1 a typo?  Probably not a FW level mismatch since you can connect Ethernet.

When I did the update, it downloaded 1.2.1

Sounds vaguely driver-ish. If you use a prior version of DmD, can you connect?

I downloaded 1.3.1 and  installed it. It all automagically worked!  I don't know why when I did the update inside the program it downloaded 1.2.1 ?  Perhaps the server side of the download changed since that earlier version dealing with the in-program updates? Best to always check the website for the latest and greatest. Thanks.

I downloaded 1.3.1 and  installing it. I don't know why when I did the update inside the program it downloaded 1.2.1 ?

We had to change the firmware and installation file extensions of the files on the server due to ISP issues.  Those "new" extensions are supported in 1.3.1.  This affects both Designer installs AND FIRMWARE UPDATES!

Hence, 1.2.1 (and 1.1 and 1.0) "Check for Updates" do not know how to download and install 1.3.1 (or any new firmware file updates!).  So if you go through the MENU "Check for Updates" in 1.0 and 1.1, it will say 1.2.1.

This is why we changed the banner on the Start Page to tell you about 1.3, and get you to "Click here to download".  That graphic on the Start Page would show up on 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, and even 1.3.  If you click THERE, you go to ADC "download" web page, not the internal Designer "Check for Updates" dialog.

Not your fault - it is a bump that we knew would happen, but (hopefully) will only happen this one time.  We tried to make the Start Page banner be obvious "click here! click here!" for 1.0, 1.1, and 1.2 users.

If you have 1.3.1, its Check for Updates will work with all the most recent firmware files AND (whenever it becomes available) a new Designer version.

I'm with the group that ignore banners, trained by years of internet ads.
