I am using a DoMore talking to a MB_Gateway talking to multiple Modbus serial motor starters. I have one system working well. talking to 8 starters controlling them and monitoring % load. I am building another system and I cannot get it to work. I have copied my configuration from the running one and the MB-Gateway config. My writes work but I cannot read.
On the system that will not work I am getting "M240 Common Modbus/TCP Client Device... TCP overhead is minimized when one Do-More Modbus Client Device is created for each Modbus Server/Slave IP address. I do not get this message on the running system. I think I called in last year and a tech solved the problem for me, but I do not remember what it was. This may not be the cause of my read problem but it is a start.
MB-Gateway shows no errors in the status page.
Help?

I found the solution to the Common Modbus error; wrong IP address in one of my reads. It still has not fixed my read problem.

The message is just a gentle nudge to get you consider using one client device for each server. Much, much more efficient that way. Using a single client is like using 1 telephone to talk to 8 people: dial, talk, hang up...repeat 7 times. With 8 phones you dial each once, and leave the line connected. Much faster.
If you are talking to the gateway, however, you'll only need one client...which I think you've discovered.
As for your issue, I think we're going to need more info. Let's see...nfei...I know you, and you know us...so give us a call Monday and I'm sure we can get you running.

Modbus serial motor starter that is something we would like to do. Do you have a part number and any suggestions?

Pretty sure that's a DL05 or dumb Modbus I/O brick sitting next to a starter. :D

Sorry, I just saw your request for info on the Modbus starters we are using. We are using the Schneider (Square D - old Telemechaniqe) U-Line series. They are DIN style starters in a wide range of sizes and both FV and FVR. They have an intelligent module for monitoring %load and other factors and you use a plug-in Modbus module for monitoring and control. Like all things SD, documentation is hard to find but the products are great; once you figure out how to use them! No picking up the phone and having an tech guy in <5min like AutomationDirect! This stuff is from France and a lot gets lost in translation!

So, are you still having issues...after a 1.5 years? ;) We're still here if you need us...

Hi Bob, no we got it working very well. HenryP asked for the part numbers for the Modbus controlled starters we are using and I missed seeing it. Only took me 1 1/2 years to respond to him! It would be nice if AD would offer a Modbus controlled/monitored starter.
Hope you are well. What its been 15-20 years? Time flies! You guys are really doing a great job. I talk your praises to everyone that will listen, even ones that don't! Sure are a lot of bullheaded AB and GE addicts out there!
