Title: Help Host write book! - Was: Book Needed
Post by: gjones on February 25, 2014, 01:46:16 PM
I have been very excited about the DO_MORE processor and have been eagerly waiting for a project where I could justify using one.  At this time I would like to see a complete book on programming the DO_MORE, one that I could have on my desk for reference as I write my first programs.

You could print the manual and then all the help files in Designer.

After some discussion in house, we have come to the conclusion that although such a book is greatly needed, it doesn't actually exist in a single unified form. So...we're gonna write it. The basic approach will be along the lines of "Teach Yourself to Do-more in 21 Days". It will be a more task-centric approach to covering the material, with emphasis on doing small tasks and building on them, while touching on the key training points.

So...for all of you who have or are developing Do-more projects...please help us by telling us what was most confusing. We want to make sure that we hit those things most thoroughly. Please don't be shy...

I would like to see a section on PID and Ramp/Soak. I just did a system that had to have 200 ramp/soak tables for a tempering furnace, got it working with some trial and error and the great help in the Designer software. But I am sure there are better/easier/different ways to do it than the way I did it. I Look forward to seeing it when it is finished.

Thanks,
JW

I would like to see the subject of Casting touched upon.  Once I understood the concept, I realized it's a very powerful tool, especially when working with attached serial devices and protocols.

I apologize for reviving an old thread, but I'm curious if this book that BobO referenced, was ever published, and if so where could I get a copy of it?

Sorry, no, but the Video Library keeps growing!  Look at Help->Browse Videos dialog.  In the Keywords column, check New to see some of the latest and greatest YouTube videos.

Some people say the video is never as good as the book.  Since there is no book yet, I highly recommend the videos!!
