I sure I'm missing something. I have a hard time remembering H2-DM1E 06:B4 is which Do-More and saving the name on each computer is a real pain. We are getting quite a few Do-More in the plant it would be nice to just connect and see the processor as something like B1B1Bridge regardless of which computer I’m using at the moment and which link type USB or Ethernet

Get all the names well defined on one PC, then close Designer. Copy the DMDCOMM.RST file that is in Designer's install folder's BIN directory (probably c:\Do-more\Designer1_2\bin\dmdcomm.rst) and copy that file across to any other PC's that have Designer installed. Copy it on top of the same file in the same BIN folder on those other PCs.

Interesting possibility...since the project name is stored in the controller, I could possibly use it as the link name when auto-creating USB links.

By project name that would be a big help. I see were we could have up to 50 Do-Mores. The current project will have 4 for now, and there are 4 more of these cranes along with what we call tampers. Being able to connect and download the program with out having to remember the Mac Id.
We are going to drive our IT guy nuts ;D

The Winplc give you a "find CE runtimes" then you select which one you want from the list it find online at that time. I'm using the 3 of the Do-More to do what one of the WinPLc did Mainly because a Do-More only 98 dollars more than a EBC100.

You mean from the TnD programming software, in lieu of creating a 'link'? That would be very easy to do if the only type of connection to a Do-more CPU was the Ethernet port. Good or bad, there are many ways to get to a Do-more (or DL) CPU, which necessitates a description of how to get to it. More flexible == more complicated...sadly.

I'm happy you are buying lots of Do-mores, but I would be very surprised if it required 3 Do-mores to replace one WinPLC. I would think the Do-more CPU would run circles around a WinPLC...

You are correct the TnD does that part. We use the USB for the most part if we can get to the PLC. Three I'm putting in will have to be Ethernet How can we check to make sure were connect to the correct PLC when we can not see the PLC?

Processing power is not the reason. There three different parts to the crane the bridge, the trolley, and the hand currently the WinPLC is mounted on the trolley with a ERM EBC in the hand with just a power and Ethernet cable going to the hand from the trolley. I want to add a serial interface on the hand for possiable use by bar code scanners and scales and a H2-SERIO card want work in the EBC base. Currently there is a big festoon cable running from the Trolley to the Bridge controlling the bridge drives that I'm putting Sure Servo on replacing the analog commanded VFD currently there, driven by a CTRIO2 just don't want to send step pulse over a festoon and There will be a WinPLC to act as a translator to the server. I want serial port to connect the servo drives so again the SERIO card will not work in a remote rack. 3 H2-CTRIO2 is going to be the base of all motion control of the system.

Good...I was kinda panicked. ;)
We would have loved to have supported SERIO modules in remote racks, but I'm not convinced we could have done it well enough not to cause problems. One of our major design rules here at Host is that we would rather apologize to a few customers for what we chose not to do, than to apologize to all of them for what we did poorly. Given the potentially large amounts of data that would have to pass between the DM1E and one or more remote SERIO modules, we didn't feel that we could ensure proper function of protocols running at higher baud rates. It might have been possible to do simple half duplex stuff at 9600, but with multiple modules and multiple ports per module, the data load can get out of hand quickly.

I'm working on getting an Ethernet link set up I have a USB link and Ethernet link
I have a B1B1BridgeE for Ethernet
and a B1B1BridgeUSB for USB
the USB works the Ethernet does not

I'm sure we have a FAQ for establishing Ethernet connections, but in a local LAN, it should be a matter of using the link wizard and picking the device from the list. I can help, but I gonna need some specifics about the network and the IP config in the DM1E. If you are connected via USB, you can see (and set) the IP configuration in the System Info dialog.
