Title: Minor Issuses
Post by: mhw on August 28, 2013, 03:04:49 PM
When I invoke the Search/Replace editor the options for what to do with the documentation are not available. They will appear if I click on swap and then go back to replace.
I love that you have added the option to restrict the replace to a specific code block. However I am unable to see the complete name of the selected code block if the name is longer than about 13 characters.
Is there a way that I can change the defaults for retentive memory elements? I am accustomed to C and T not being retentive and would like to be able to make this my default.

I am disappointed that you did not allow more than 16 characters for the nickname in V1.1.1 :'(

If the SOURCE is not a "documentable" element, then that radio group is not enabled.  When Swapping, then the DESTINATION was probably documentable.  Can you provide more detail as to the exact elements you were Replacing and With (this could help us figure out if/what the issue is)?

We will address that.

No, you cannot change the defaults, but you can definitely change the retentive range on a project by project basis.  You might try exporting an empty "base" project that has your preferred Memory Configuration (i.e. size of each block, retentive range of each block).  When you do the Export, in the Configuration group of the Export Options dialog, UNCHECK the System Configuration, but CHECK the MEMORY CONFIGURATION and CHECK the BUILT-INs.

Then whenever you want to create a "new project", instead of using File->New Project->Offline, do File->Import->Project and import that base export file.

Sorry about that.  We hope to address it.

I almost could not duplicate the problem. FYI I am in "Bob" mode. I think it only occurs when I select the name from the drop down box that appears after I start typing the name.

I sort of duplicated it, but it's behaving correctly.  Basically, both the Replace/Swap element and With element MUST be documentable.  So until I entered a valid (and documentable) element for BOTH of these element fields, the Documentation radio button group was DISabled.  Once both of those two fields were valid, the radio buttons became enabled.

We'll update the Replace dialog's Help topic to clarify that behavior.

Maybe I do not know what you mean by valid and documentable. It happens with every element type that I tried (DLV, DLX, X) Each memory location has a nickname assigned to it. It only happens when I select the nickname from the drop down box. If I type the complete nickname or type in the complete element address or click swap and then replace it works.

I got it.  Interesting.  Hopefully an easy fix.

Fixed.  It will show up in the next release.

Yeah...that's something that we are officially lamenting not doing for Do-more. When we first started the project it was going to be a quick-n-dirty adaptation of Directsoft for this new engine we were experimenting with. Certain decisions were made early to minimize the impact. Six years later, the project bore little resemblance to the original goals...but...some of the early decisions were never revisited.

The good news is that we are planning to revisit it and see if we can go to something like 24 or 32 without significant pain, and if so, we'll be targeting 2.0 with this improvement. It isn't trivial though, but we definitely understand the need and will try very hard to make it happen.

You must have a lot of spare time these days. So here are a few other things that I had hoped would be changed when 1.1 came out:
• Dragging the scroll bar (in ladder and data view) has no effect until released (not a live scroll).
• It would be handy to have the tab at the top of the ladder view indicate which programs are active when status is on.
• When I hit "All Status" I would prefer that to apply to all programs, (open now or opened later)

Why does the simulator occasionally drop out of run mode? There have been times when I am troubleshooting and I am trying to figure out why an output is not on. Then I realize that the Sim had moved to stop. >:(

I really appreciate how responsive and helpful you guys are. It is because of this that I will not use any other PLC!

It's time limited to 1 hour. Since it is a full implementation of the Do-more engine, and fully supports all networking, you could actually control your entire plant from our "simulator". Wasn't overly keen on that since it's *free*...
