What does (or doesn't) it do (crash, give error dialog, nothing)

Was Rel 5.0 or Rel 5.1 ever installed, and if they were, did THEY ever work?

duvals, we have seen this before and it is a Windows System file that DirectSOFT v5.x is using that is crashing. In fact, it is crashing before it even gets to our own code.  Huh We are in the process of troubleshooting this and trying to figure out exactly which Windows System file it is and come up with a viable solution.

Unfortunately, so far, the only 100% fix has been one of 2 things:
  • Uninstall/reinstall the Windows OS! Embarrassed
  • Install DirectSOFT v4.0 and use it instead.  Sad

But, take a look at DirectSOFT FAQ0212 (http://www.hosteng.com/FAQFiles/DirectSOFT.htm; scroll to the bottom). There are some things there that you might try other than reloading the Windows OS.

Let us know what (if any) works.

It happened to me after I installed the new version of Norton Internet Security. However, even after I unistalled Norton and reinstalled DS5, it still would not run. Eventually, I had to resinstall XP.  I feel your pain.

Good news,

I can start direcsoft 5.2 when I right click on the icon et select "Run as" ,select the next user and I enter my username with my password.

With this manner, I can start Directsoft 5.2. I hope that will help you to find the problem.

Best regard,

Thank you for the info!  We'll definitely look at it (and hopefully fix it!)
