Hello all!
I post to the AD forum from time to time, but this is my first post to the HOST site.  I've never done COMs between a GS2 drive and a DL-05 PLC before, and even with the new I-Boxes, I'm still confounded as to what I need to do to get the two talking.  I'm just shooting for run/stop, speed, direction, and acel/decel times right now, over an RS232 link.  Is there an I-Box example for reading and writing, specific to the GS2?  I've gotten as far as getting the drive to display a COMs error, so I think my port setup and cable are correct, but I don't know where to go from there.  I know this has to be simple, but I'm just not seeing it.  As an aside, a new feature for the rel. 6 might be a set of I-Boxes specific to the GS series of drives, to make things as painless as possible.  Thanks in advance for any help.

Sincerely,
Ryan Poethke

ryan, this may not be the best place to get help for that question because 'we don't have a dog in that race', the automationdirect forum is probably the better choice - try thier tech support too, they're quite helpful.

the iboxes are intended for use with hx-ecom & hx-ecom100 modules - although they will work with the hx-dcm modules as well becasue the plcs interact the same way with dcms and ecom/ecom100s.

we have been involved with folks using our ecom100 and gs-edrv to create a control connection to a gs2 over ethernet, but not serially.

there may some folks on our forum that are familiar with doing this, and if so, i hope they chime in with some help.

Good design costs a lot. Bad design costs even more.
